K-8 Enrichment Classes Fall 2017
2017-2018 fall session enrichment classes will start the week of September 5 and end the week of November 10. Registration is now open; please sign-up by Thursday, August 31.
Class Start/End Times
Classes will start after dismissal. Please note the class schedule changes.

*Please note that Digital Lab concludes at 5:00PM.
Snack will be provided before activities on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday for K-4 students. While a light snack will be provided after enrichment classes, students in Grade 5/6 may bring their own snack to eat before or after enrichment class.
Please remember to pick up your child on time after the class. Late fees will be applied at the same dismissal or Extended Care time rate. Once your child is signed out, you are responsible and must have him or her under your supervision at all times. Children are not allowed in the classroom once they have been signed out. If your child needs to use the restroom, please use the restrooms next to the multi-purpose room and remain with them. Younger siblings, ages 5 and under, are not allowed on the play structure during pick up for liability reasons.
Enrollment and Cancellation Policy
All classes require a minimum enrollment of 7 students and are capped at 15 or 20 students, depending on the(Digital Lab, Robotics, Creative Spanish and Italian are capped at 10 students). The decision to cancel a class will be made based on the enrollment collected until August 31. If the minimum number is not reached, the class will be cancelled. Withdrawals will be accepted without any charge if communicated no later than 24 hours after the first class of the session.

Once the classes of your choice is confirmed, the Business Office will charge a cumulative fee for all classes you enrolled in through Tuition Express.

3:30PM - 4:30PM K-3 $ 250
In these exciting hands-on science classes, we will build a variety of toys and use them to demonstrate major scientific concepts such as energy, electricity, light, gravity, motion, friction, magnetism, and simple machines. Each student will construct and take home a science toy in every class.

3:35PM - 4:35PM 3 - 6 $ 300
Students will learn how to tell a story through visuals, basic functions of a HDSLR for shooting, basis of editing. The goal of the class is to produce a video presentation of the school from the idea to the broadcast. The video will be presented during “La Dolce Vita” event.

3:30PM - 4:30PM K-1 $ 225
A full immersion into Italian culture with a focus on grammar and vocabulary: an engaging environment to improve your written and oral Italian fluency. The class is designed by our Italian classroom teachers to match the needs and improve the language experience of beginner speakers.

2:15PM - 3:00PM K-4 $ 200
Capoeira is a Brazilian global art form combining martial arts, rhythm, music, acrobatics, and creative expression. Mestre Cafu will incorporate Portuguese, offer your child the opportunity to join the Batizado (Graduation) ceremony, and encourage student growth, both as individuals and members of an international community.

3:00PM - 4:00PM Beginner and Advanced $ 190
This class is for children who either have never played, are experienced or just want to have fun. Students will learn all of the rules of chess, famous games, top chess players, and complex strategies that make chess so fun.

A wonderful class to spark imaginations through theatrical play! Students will create their own characters, practice with partners, and play improvisational games. Personal expression and individuality will be encouraged.

3:30PM - 4:30PM K-3 $ 225
The course provides an introduction to robotics through the use of various androids. Children will learn about the materials they can use to build a robot, circuits, and fundamental parts. They will learn how to control and program robots to follow simple commands. This class will be followed by an introduction to programming and coding during the winter and spring sessions.

3:35PM - 4:35PM K-6 $ 180
Fitness in Transit offers a high-energy workout, promoting leadership through group teamwork with stamina-driven fitness. Basic dance steps are introduced with an educational overview of historical appreciation of Hip-Hop movement from Popping, Locking and Break Dancing to current popular movement. Fitness in Transit will also offer martial arts class during the winter session and acronastic (gymnastic + acro-balance) during spring session.

3:35PM - 4:35PM K-6 $ 200
In this class, children will be introduced to the Spanish language using creativity and art. Themed projects will allow children to build vocabulary, practice pronunciation, and learn new words and phrases. The methodology of the class is multi-disciplinary and they will explore different techniques and materials to create their artwork: collage, painting, theater, science, among others.

3:30PM - 4:30PM K-4 $ 180
Boys and girls will learn fundamentals of hockey (dribbling, shooting, and team dynamics) through a series of games and challenges. During each class they will participate in individual, small, and large group activities that will teach them key hockey skills and sportsmanship.
