Each family is required to perform a minimum of 20 hours per year of volunteer work either on one of our parents committees or in connection with one of our fundraisers. There are many ways to give your time and energy for the benefit of our children.
Several committees are run by parents, sustain the school and enrich our community. Volunteer committees include:
- The Parents Club
- Facility Maintenance
- Fundraising Events
- Strategic Development Discussions
- K-8 Site Selection
Fundraising and Events
Fundraising is a critical part of the ongoing financial sustainability of La Scuola.
Every spring we organize a gala silent auction and party for parents and members of the Italian-American community in the Bay Area. Parents and staff are expected to play an active role in the event, such as: Soliciting Donations, Set-Up, Assist on-site at the event.
Come meet each other or reconnect at our bring-your-own-lunch picnics.
Volunteer to attend one of the Fall Open Houses. Give prospective families your thoughts on why you chose La Scuola for your child(ren).
Festa di Natale
Our traditional holiday party with a special appearance by Babbo Natale.
Parents work with teachers to plan a special event designed to delight children and celebrate our year together.
Make a Donation
La Scuola is a new non-profit institution; donations will make up a big part of our budget for the first few years. We will be undertaking a capital fundraising campaign in 2012 to ensure that we are able to secure a location into which our children can move and our school can grow beyond K-2nd in 2013-2014. The funds will also allow us to attract the best and brightest teachers for our children by giving us room to compensate them competitively; they will allow us to fund professional development; and they will allow us to consider tuition assistance, a core value. Please consider making a donation to our school and be a part of history.
Please make a donation. Grazie mille for your support!
From the Board of Directors
La Scuola gives our children the myriad benefits of a bilingual education while giving them the chance to know Italian culture, it also provides their parents an opportunity to share and celebrate another culture and bilingual education. La Scuola strives to teach a life long love of learning, where children become creative, critical, global thinkers for the future. Your contribution, particularly at this stage as the school gets ready to establish a K-8 program can truly make a difference. And this difference will yield dividends for many years to come, for many generations of children, their parents, and their grandparents.
We thank you in advance for your support.
