Auxiliary Programs Manager
La Scuola is seeking an experienced Auxiliary Programs Manager to create, administer, and supervise innovative programs operating outside of the regular school day including after school and summer. We are an Italian immersion, Reggio-inspired, IB-accredited preschool, elementary and middle school in beautiful San Francisco.
A thorough understanding of La Scuola’s philosophy, culture, pedagogy, practice, and day-to- day life is essential. Applicants should be enthusiastic, child-oriented, and creative individuals with a desire to work in a bilingual environment, who enjoy being with students and foster their intellectual, academic, social, emotional, and physical development through the duties outlined below.
The APM reports to the Lower School Director.
Develop and implement the curriculum for Extended Care program and Summer program
Create trimester-long enrichment programs that represent a range of student interests
Research mission-appropriate after school enrichment programs to introduce to the school community
Ensure the quality of the program on a day-to- day basis
Review program curriculum annually
Maintain accurate and organized records such as attendance records and incident reports
Produce and communicate the program overview with each program description, schedule and price for the parent community
Evaluate program activities through surveys
Serve as a liaison between the school and parents
Prepare instructional materials as required
Supervise and manage the schedule of up to three EC classroom teachers
Lead activities and supervision during the program hours
Assist in preparation and distribution of snacks and meals
Use appropriate re-direction and positive guidance strategies when resolving issues
Operate a computer (MAC and PC) and related software including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Docs, inResonance, and email
A minimum of a BA, or Child Development Certificate
Previous experience working with children required
Fluency in reading, writing and speaking in English
Fluency in reading, writing and speaking in Italian preferred, but not required
Strong supervisory, organizational, technical, and analytical skills
Excellent verbal and written skills, as well as outstanding interpersonal skills
Able to work collaboratively with a team
Problem solving, creativity, multitasking skills
Ability to thrive in a start-up environment
Excellent attendance and punctuality records
This is a full-time exempt position, 40 hours per week; this position will start August 1, 2018.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Prior to beginning work and as a condition of employment in order to comply with the law, all employees must provide documentation to prove eligibility to work in United States. In addition, the final candidate will need to pass Criminal Justice Department and Federal Bureau of Investigation Fingerprint Clearance, a physical exam, and provide recent copy of a negative TB test and other immunization records.
