Preschool Music Teacher (part-time)
La Scuola International School is seeking a vibrant, collaborative music teacher needed to teach twelve 30-minute music classes per week to preschool children ages 3-5 in collaboration with classroom teachers and under the direction of the Music Coordinator.
The successful candidate will be comfortable singing music from around the world with an emphasis on Italian-language music. The Music Teacher will support classroom learning objectives as well as plan and implement her/his stand-alone curriculum with support of the Music Coordinator and IB-PYP coordinator.
Bachelor’s degree in Music or Education required
Previous experience working with children required
Familiarity and experience with various music teaching philosophies/modalities (Orff, Kodaly, Dalcroze) preferred
Familiarity and experience with educational philosophies/frameworks (Reggio Emilia, IB) strongly desired.
Fluency in reading, writing and speaking in English
Fluency in reading, writing and speaking in Italian preferred but not required
Problem solving, creativity, multitasking skills
Ability to thrive in a start-up environment
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
Excellent attendance and punctuality records
Prior to beginning work and as a condition of employment in order to comply with the law, all employees must provide documentation to prove eligibility to work in United States. In addition, the final candidate will need to pass Criminal Justice Department and Federal Bureau of Investigation Fingerprint Clearance, a physical exam, and provide recent copy of a negative TB test and other immunization records.
This position is part-time.
Compensation depends on qualifications and experience. The school also offers retirement and commuter benefits.
