We are looking for caring, committed substitute teachers for our wonderful IB / Reggio Emilia inspired, language immersion program.
The substitute teacher will cover the classroom during teachers' absences at our Preschool campus, or Elementary campus, or both.
Assists teachers in the performance of the following duties: reads to children; directs and participates in children’s games and other activities; assists children in meeting their physical needs and, in using learning materials and equipment; and, assists children in developing positive attitudes, habits, knowledge, and skills.
Assists in supervision of lavatories
Maintain normal classroom routines and use appropriate re-direction and positive guidance strategies
Leave adequate notes regarding what was accomplished in class, a description of problems that may have occurred and resolutions to said problems, if applicable
Assists in preparation and distribution of snacks and meals
Supervises meal times while eating with children
Prepares instructional, display, and other work materials as required
Monitors or checks assigned areas, including play areas, to assist in enforcing appropriate standards of behavior and applicable safety rules
Collects, distributes, stores or disposes of materials, and assists in the arrangement of furniture and equipment
Work with different grade levels
Become acquainted with our diverse teams of experienced educators
A minimum of a BA, or Child Development Certificate, or 5+ years experience working with children required
Previous experience working with children
Knowledge of Reggio Emilia and IB strongly preferred
Fluency in reading, writing and speaking in English
Fluency in reading, writing and speaking in Italian and/or Spanish preferred
Excellent verbal and written skills
Outstanding interpersonal skills
Problem solving, creativity, multitasking skills
Ability to thrive in a start-up environment
Excellent attendance and punctuality records
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Final candidate will need to pass Criminal Justice Department and Federal Bureau of Investigation Fingerprint Clearance, Physical Exam and TB Test
