Addressing Anti-AAPI Hate & Violence

Tuesday, April 20, 2021 - 5:30pm to 6:30pm
Event Location:
LA SCUOLA FAMILIES: The Zoom link can be found in your email by searching "Zoom Link: Addressing Anti-AAPI Hate & Violence on April 20"

On Tuesday, April 20, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., La Scuola is hosting a virtual community event to allow space to process the past year’s surge in anti-Asian American/Pacific Islander (AAPI) attacks, which are tragically part of a much longer history of anti-AAPI racism and sentiment in this country.

What: Our goals for the evening are to increase our knowledge and awareness around issues central to the AAPI community, and to allow space for conversation that will challenge and illuminate.

Who: Everyone is welcome - La Scuola families, faculty & staff - and we ask that you please find the time to read/view the resources listed below. Please use the form below to share any specific questions and/or concerns you would like addressed during the event and we will do our best to address everything.

Investing in the Conversation
We are leaning into the work. We are encouraging community members to read these two short articles and view the 7-minute video to engage your learning in preparation for the event.

We ask that as you engage in your learning, please use these question to support your reflection:

  1. Notice your body’s reaction (heartbeat, tension, breath, posture) as you learn. What do you feel?
  2. What do you notice about your mind’s reaction as you read/view?
  3. What surprises you? What is new information to you?
  4. What questions are coming up for you?

The last (optional) resource is a link to several videos, should you wish to deepen your understanding.
