COVID-19 Relief Fund & Virtual Community Meetings
Buongiorno La Scuola,
I hope this finds you well and you were able to get a little break this week. We are looking forward to seeing all of you again on Monday. I just wanted to give you a few updates to let you know what’s been happening this week.
I have convened a COVID-19 Task Force comprised of board members who are actively focused on stewarding the school through this unprecedented time and working with us to plan strategically for what may arise in the future. Under consideration is the establishment of a dedicated COVID-19 Relief Fund that would be added to our Sliding Scale Tuition Fund which will provide temporary support for La Scuola families experiencing financial hardship or job loss due to COVID-19. We are here for you and we will reach out with more details soon.
I also think you have heard that SFUSD announced the closure of their schools for the remainder of the year. While we are not ready to make that announcement yet, know that we will make the decisions that are best for our community and our students. We will let you know in a week what we will be doing. Know that we are prepared and our teachers are ready to deliver our education online until the end of the school year. Know that we miss you very much.
We are also starting community meetings over Zoom divided by campus to make sure everyone has a chance to have a conversation with us and ask questions so that we stay connected at these times when staying connected in person is not an option. We will be sharing the dates and the format early next week so that you can sign up and hopefully participate.
Lastly, we have also not had the chance to officially congratulate our eighth-grade class for their incredibly successful admissions season of being accepted to their first-choice high school (Lick Wilmerding, International, Urban, Bay, Drew, Covent, Stewart Hall, Sacred Heart Prep, Mission Prep). Well done! Also, congratulations to all other students for their transition into this new and completely unprecedented way of learning.
And last but not least, YOU, the parents have been a great support for your child in many situations and we really truly appreciate the work you are doing in the background. I know that none of us were planning for this but you have been doing really great.
With that, I just want to remind us that while this is hard, I truly believe that this is going to make us better parents, better partners and better friends and we are doing this for the good of the many. Staying home saves lives and it is working and it has worked around the world and here in the Bay Area.
Hand in there! Andra’tuttobene - All will be well!
