Investing in the Future of our Students & Faculty

Buongiorno La Scuola,

It’s October, and so today I’m here to talk to you about the Annual Fund.

This is my 13th year at La Scuola. Time flies and I continue to be amazed at how our community continues to grow and really stick to our values when we set off to embrace this dream 13 years ago. We are all here together with joy and optimism, and I’m so grateful to all of you for being part of our dream.

Why is the Annual Fund important? As you probably know, and if you are new to La Scuola maybe you don’t, tuition covers about 90% of our operational costs and 10% is raised through fundraising. The Annual Fund allows us to offer our students an exceptional education, and more importantly, it allows us to make this education affordable to as many students and families as we can give it to. Exceptional programs mean our Atelier, Environmental Sciences, Garden, Music, and so much more. It also means Professional Development for our faculty and staff, which directly impacts the quality of the educational programs that we offer. Sliding Scale Tuition has grown so much at La Scuola in the last five years. We are now up to over 30% of families that receive some kind of aid at La Scuola. It is something that we are all very committed to as a school and Board of Directors.

The fact that our Annual Fund was strong last year also allowed us to create the Covid-19 Relief Fund which allowed us to support many families that struggled last spring because of the Covid-19 pandemic. This is another indication of the fact that your gift truly matters and it’s really important.

The gifts at La Scuola have ranged between $50 to $50,000 but what really matters is 100% participation because we are all in this together. Our faculty, staff, and Leadership Team participate in the Annual Fund, and our Board has already given 100%. What we really ask of you is to be part of it and be in this together with us. The goal is to reach 100% in 100 days and so you will be hearing from your room parents and our Annual Fund representative very soon.

I hope that you will join me in supporting this great organization. As always, I hope that if you will be asking questions if you have any, we are here for you. I am grateful for all of those who have already given. I hope you all have a wonderful day.
