La Scuola Submits Letter of Intent for K-5 Waiver
Ciao La Scuola,
Last night, we received a letter from the San Francisco Health Department stating that we can now submit a letter of intent to apply for the waiver to reopen our K-5 program. No formal waiver process yet, but we will be submitting this letter tomorrow, so at least we know we have a path forward and we are very excited about that.
There is still no path for middle school but we will keep you informed as soon as we know. We want to make sure everyone is going to come back when it is safe and healthy to do so and we will keep you up-to-speed with what we hear from the City.
I think this is not going to be a perfect process and we learn new things every day. I remind you to continue to be optimistic and positive. Remember that our children are absorbing all of the stress we feel as adults and it’s very important that we try to stay calm and positive because they can see everything we feel. We are here for you if you need any help in doing so.
Last but not least, it’s my great pleasure to introduce Dani Sollberger, our Director of Administration, who looks after HR and Operations, and she is also our Covid-19 Coordinator. You will now hear from Dani, so I’m going to keep my video short. I wish you a wonderful weekend and I look forward to giving you more updates soon about what’s ahead for La Scuola and your child.
Ciao and Andra’tuttobene - all will be well.
Valentina Imbeni, Ph.D.
Head of School
PS: We are working daily to create a remote learning option (for those of you who have indicated that for health or other reasons you would prefer staying home) that draws on the success of our current remote learning while featuring the same engaging educational experience you expect from La Scuola, led by a La Scuola teacher. We will be sharing more details as a return to in-person learning for K-8 becomes more imminent.
My name is Dani Sollberger and I’m the Director of Administration, as well as the Covid-19 Coordinator. Normally, you can find me across the three campuses over the course of the week. I am now also working from my fourth office managing the remote learning for my two children that are back at La Scuoal this year - Audrey in 5th grade and Balen in 2nd grade.
I have been helping to lead our Covid response efforts and will also be leading our waiver application process as we receive more information from the health departments over the coming weeks.
I want to thank the community for all the questions and encourage you to stay engaged. We are so appreciative of all the messages and can only ask that you continue to stay active. Keep watching, keep listening, and sending us your feedback. It is truly helpful in bringing us forward and helping us to better support each other and you.
Thank you very much,
Director of Administration & Covid-19 Coordinator
