For the Settimana della Lingua Madre, our Elementary Students gathered to discuss the 100 years of Rodari this morning! Gianni Rodari was an Italian writer and journalist, most famous for his children's books. His works are celebrated and loved by all, and today, our students had the opportunity to divide into groups and discuss some of his books! On Thursday, La Scuola hosted guest educators for "Ordinary Stories: the micro journeys to achieving childhood milestones". On Wednesday, we had our first-ever Middle School - Mission Campus tour for prospective families! Our middle schoolers did such a wonderful job speaking with prospective parents and showing them first hand the joy and community of La Scuola. Bravissimo! This morning, our preschoolers had the opportunity to make apple juice with a homemade apple press! Max and his dad, Scott, were so kind to bring all of the materials and apples so that each child had a turn to rotate the press and drink some delicious apple juice! Grazie mille!

On Thursday, October 17th, La Scuola joined with over 20 million people in Great ShakeOut Drill. All three of La Scuola's Campuses practiced the first earthquake drill of the year: students and staff dropped, covered and held on until it was safe to evacuate. Bravissimi!

This week, La Scuola Preschool joined in on the 19th Edition of "La Settimana della Lingua Madre" (Week of the Italian Language in the World). For this 19th Edition of the Italian Language Week in the World (October 21 - 27), the theme is Italian on Stage, and Embassies, Consulates and Institutes of Culture organize events to promote Italian throughout the world based on this theme. On Thursday, September 13th we had the honor of receiving a visit from Stefano Bonaccini, President of Regione Emilia Romagna (the region of Reggio Emilia). Head of School Valentina, Preschool Director Federica and a group of teachers welcomed him at the Dogpatch Campus. After touring the classrooms and common spaces, the teachers and staff had the opportunity to present the magic of the learning experience at La Scuola!
