Buongiorno La Scuola, As we all navigate the Covid-19 pandemic, the fires around us, the political unrest, and the much-needed change that we have ahead of us, I think it is important that we continue to focus on our vision of educating La Scuola children to meet the needs of the rapidly changing world. This is what I would like to focus on today and remind ourselves that we need to continue to be a community, stick by one another, and hold a high image of our children. It is now more... Read More

Ciao La Scuola, Last night, we received a letter from the San Francisco Health Department stating that we can now submit a letter of intent to apply for the waiver to reopen our K-5 program. No formal waiver process yet, but we will be submitting this letter tomorrow, so at least we know we have a path forward and we are very excited about that. There is still no path for middle school but we will keep you informed as soon as we know. We want to make sure everyone is going to come back when... Read More

Buongiorno La Scuola, A very warm welcome back to our K-8 students. We did our Chromebook pickup at Fell Campus yesterday and today we have students in the yard picking up their Chromebooks and getting to meet each other, sometimes for the first time, safely distanced and masked in our beautiful Mission yard. The teachers and administrators have worked very hard to reopen the school. As you know, we have some new technology tools and software that we are using to deliver our remote... Read More

Buongiorno La Scuola, Welcome back! This is the first day of the Preschool - Dogpatch is open and it was great to see the joy of our parents, children, and faculty. The vibe of the school today has been great. La Scuola magic and La Scuola joys are back. I think the meaning of today is so much than just the first day at Dogpatch. It represents our intention to be back with you for in-person learning as soon as we are allowed. With that, I want to make an announcement today. The elementary... Read More

We learned what we knew already that PreK is allowed to open, and so we are going to open as planned on Tuesday, August 4. We also learned that K-12 schools are still not permitted to open under the SF Stay Safe at Home Order. This means that unfortunately,... Read More

Dear La Scuola Community, I hope this finds you well. I am writing tonight to address the new K-12 guidelines for schools shared by Governor Gavin Newsom on Friday and what it means for La Scuola now that San Francisco has been added to the state health watch list. Under Newsom’s updated guidelines, the specific metrics schools must meet to open in-person learning and remain open include: Schools can reopen only when their county has been off the monitoring list for 14 consecutive days.... WATCH THE RECORDING "The good news is that our test positivity rate continues to decline...at least 10 times lower than communities in Florida and Texas." "There's a lot of things we can do that are low to moderate in risk reduction. I think we should do all of them simultaneously to be as safe as possible." We were very honored to have Sanjay Basu, MD, Ph.D., a current La Scuola parent, and infectious disease epidemiologist and internal medicine physician, join us on July 16 for a special... Read More
