Preparing for Campus for Reopening
Buonasera La Scuola,
I am here at the Fell Street Campus and it’s very exciting because we got confirmation that we will be receiving a visit from the City of San Francisco tomorrow.
They will make sure we are in compliance with the guidelines for the safe reopening of schools. It’s exciting times, there are teachers in the classrooms and we are all excited to be here together.
I hope you have been enjoying the fresh air outside. It’s a great feeling to keep the windows open and I think it has taught us to continue to appreciate the small things in life and to be grateful for what we have every day.
I would like to thank Dr. Sanjay Basu for the very informative webinar he offered to all of us in the La Scuola community. I hope you were able to view it and we really thank you for your questions. If you weren’t, it is attached to this message, so please take some time to watch or rewatch again. If it prompts more questions, we are here with Dr. Basu to answer them for you.
After this walkthrough tomorrow, the next step is that the City will approve our site and then we will be getting a date for reopening. We don’t anticipate that being any earlier than September 28. As planned, we will stagger our reopening, and so once we open the K-2 campus, we open for Grades 3-5 and then Grades 6-8. Stay tuned for more information as there will be an email about the first day of school that will follow from your Division Directors. The message will address the needs of in-person students and also the distance learning pods. For those students that will stay in distance learning, know that you will be getting information from them as well. In terms of teacher assignments, there will not be any big changes and assignments will be communicated next week. We will try to keep the cohorts together as they are now to the best of our abilities.
With that, I think it’s going to be an interesting year, as it already has been an interesting year. I want to make sure that we all remember we are doing our very best. Learning will be high-quality but the experience of learning may be different because we have some constraints that will keep us all healthy and safe, so we must abide by them.
Keep being optimistic, keep being hopeful, and if you don’t find that within yourself, please reach out because we are here for you. Have a great evening. Andra’tuttobene - all will be well.
