Ways to Give
It is an extraordinary year for La Scuola - a historic moment in the life of our joyful school.
Annually, there are two primary fundraising efforts at La Scuola: the Annual Fund in the fall, and La Dolce Vita in the spring. 2024-25 will be transformational for La Scuola as we call upon our families to also support the Embrace Campaign, the capital campaign funding our beautiful new K-8, Reggio-inspired building on Mission Campus.
The Embrace Campaign
As you’ve no doubt heard, the Embrace campaign is the visionary capital campaign dedicated to raising the funds necessary to create our new building on Mission Campus, the first Reggio Emilia, Italian immersion, and International Baccalaureate K-8 school in North America, built from the ground up. The new building will not only be the centerpiece of our campus, but also an environment that transcends mere space and setting - the third teacher that plays an essential role in your child’s education and in their future.
The Embrace Campaign is the first of its kind for La Scuola, and since the campaign’s inception in 2018, the Board of Directors, Valentina and the Leadership Team, and the Embrace Campaign Committee have devoted their hands and hearts to this transformational project for La Scuola’s future. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our early supporters, we are thrilled to announce that we have already raised $9 million of our $10 million goal! Now, on the eve of our groundbreaking, we invite our entire community to join us in reaching the finish line.
The Annual Fund
In addition to the capital campaign, our Annual Fund is an essential fundraising effort each year, fueling much of the magic that makes our school thrive. Tuition alone does not cover a La Scuola education, and it is this yearly effort that empowers the exceptional resources that shape our students’ experience - our academic programs and extraordinary ateliers, professional development for our passionate faculty and staff, and a robust sliding scale tuition fund that helps open La Scuola’s doors to as many as possible in the city around us.
Philanthropy is very intentionally woven into the school’s operating budget, and each year tuition is set with the expectation that the school will have 100% participation in the Annual Fund. Like many independent schools, La Scuola’s Annual Fund bridges what tuition covers and the true cost of educating each student. While tuition is not tax deductible, contributions to the Annual Fund are. Your gift truly makes it possible for us to keep the magic of La Scuola accessible to all families and is what takes our school from exceptional to transformational.
This year, we invite each and every member of our community to participate in both the Embrace Campaign and the Annual Fund. These two efforts work hand in hand: while the capital campaign secures our future, the Annual Fund sustains our present.
La Dolce Vita and the Sliding Scale Tuition Fund
La Dolce Vita (LDV) is our annual, volunteer-led fundraising gala that takes place in the spring. This is an event near and dear to La Scuola’s heart, at which we welcome hundreds of guests from within and outside La Scuola to celebrate and support the school that we all love so much.
Monies raised at LDV fund our school’s wish list for the following school year by supporting our ateliers in the visual arts, music, design, and environmental science, as well as the Sliding Scale Tuition Fund (SSTF). The SSTF allows children who would not otherwise be able to afford full tuition the opportunity to attend La Scuola and enriches our school community by honoring diverse points of view and experiences that serve to create global citizens. Every dollar given at La Dolce Vita is vital to our mission to educate holistically - academically, physically, and creatively.
PALS - Parent Association of La Scuola
There are other ways to give to La Scuola - specifically, through the gifts of time and talent.
One of the strengths of the school is the volunteerism of our entire community. All parents are members of PALS, and La Scuola relies on its members to serve on committees, hold leadership positions, be Room Parents, help with La Dolce Vita, and more. Volunteering is a year-round effort and an incredible way to strengthen La Scuola’s programming, be involved in your child’s education, and connect with other families.
Make your gift today.
Every gift is an investment in La Scuola’s students, faculty, and staff, and the impact they will have on their communities and the world. Please give as generously as you can and remember that every single gift matters - participation is powerful!
Your support throughout the year enables us to inspire each new generation of brave learners to shape the future as we continue to be a leader in the Reggio Emilia approach, Italian language immersion, and the only PreK-8 International Baccalaureate World School in San Francisco and Silicon Valley.
